Rhyzopertha dominica (coleoptera: Bostrichidae) is a major pest of stored cereals, responsible for significant losses in bith quantity. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the insecticidal actiity of Laurus nobilis L. essential oil on adults of this insect. The work is structured two parts. The first part was devotes to a scientific survey of 30 randomly selected women in the wilaya of Tipaza. The results highlighted Laurus nobilis as one of the most frequently cited species. The second part involved in vitroevaluation of the bioinsecticidal activity of L. nobilis essential oil, applied by contact to R. dominica adults. The results showed a clear dose-response relationship: the higher the concentration of essentialoil,the higher the insect mortality rate. Lethal doses were estimated at 16.61 μ1/ml (DL50) and 53.80μl/ml (DL90), confirming the potential efficacy of this essential oil as a natural alternative to chemical insecticides in the management of stored produce pests. |
