This thesis investigates the spatial distribution of chlorophyll-a and phytoplankton in the central region of Algeria, focusing on the biological and environmental dynamics that shape this marine ecosystem.
The first chapter provides a general overview of the Mediterranean Sea and phytoplankton, emphasizing their ecological importance. It highlights the key role of chlorophyll-a as an indicator of phytoplankton biomass and discusses the essential nutrients that drive marine primary production.
The second chapter outlines the materials and methods used. It describes the study area and analytical tools, including ArcGIS 10.8 for spatial analysis and satellite data from the Copernicus program. Field sampling techniques are also detailed, involving basic equipment such as Niskin bottles.
The third chapter presents a discussion based on the results, supported by maps and graphs that show spatial and temporal changes in chlorophyll-a concentrations. The analysis reveals significant variations influenced by environmental factors such as temperature, nutrient availability, and anthropogenic inputs.
