| Résumé : |
This research focused on studying macroplastic pollution in Bouismail Bay. Macroplastics, defined as plastic debris larger than 5 mm, represent a significant proportion of the waste found in terrestrial and marine ecosystems. The main objective of this thesis was to quantify the presence of this macro waste, identify its main sources, and assess its impact on the environment and local biodiversity. The methodology adopted was based on field collection campaigns, classification of the types of plastic waste found, and a comparative analysis with other studies conducted at the regional or global level. The results revealed a high concentration of macroplastics in areas of high human activity, particularly around coastal areas, waterways, and roads. This waste comes mainly from urban, industrial, and agricultural activities, but also from a lack of effective waste management. Finally, recommendations were proposed to reduce the production of single-use plastics, improve waste management systems and raise awareness among local populations about the issue of plastic waste. |
