| Résumé : |
In order to assess the geochemical quality of marine sediments, a total of 24 stations were selected in three bays: Zemmouri, Algiers, and Bou-Ismail for the collection of surface and deep sediments.
Surface sediments were collected using a grab, while deep sediments were collected using a corer. The cores obtained were cut into sections to allow for vertical time analysis. The samples were analyzed at the CNRDPA laboratory to determine organic matter (OM), total organic carbon (TOC), fine fraction (FF), moisture content (MC), and water content (W).
The results of this temporal analysis show significant variability in the parameters studied. Deep sediments have high organic matter content, reaching up to 14.81% with a maximum TOC of 3.19%. Zemmouri Bay is characterized by high concentrations of OM and a high content of fine particles, while the sediments in Algiers Bay show variability linked to anthropogenic inputs, particularly those from the El Harrach and El Hamiz wadis. However, the results obtained in Bou-Ismail Bay reflect relatively calm sedimentation conditions favorable to the slow accumulation of organic matter.
